Caring for Your Tiles
Your tiles are more than just beautiful pieces. They are a tactile luxury, a story in your hands, and a centerpiece of many moments. With a little thoughtful care, they will stay flawless for years to come.
Why Care Makes All the Difference
Though crafted from premium materials and finished with the finest detail, even the most exquisite tiles are sensitive to their surroundings. Heat, moisture, intense light, and harsh cleaning agents can silently degrade coloration, shape, or finish. Proper maintenance is not just about preserving beauty. It is about maintaining the rich feel, elegant glide, and joy of every touch.
The Essentials: What To Do
Store with respect. Keep tiles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or windows. Small shifts in temperature or humidity might seem subtle, but over time they can lead to warping or fading.
After each session. Gently brush or wipe them with a plush, lint free cloth to clear away oils, dust, or residue. When something more stubborn arises, a lightly dampened microfiber cloth (or a soft baby wipe) followed by immediate drying will work wonders.
Deep clean with care. When your tiles need a refresh, use mild soap in lukewarm water, applied with a soft cloth. Rinse carefully, and dry immediately and thoroughly to avoid water sitting in seams or edges.
Spot test first. If you are introducing a new cleaner, polish, or cloth type, try it first on a single tile that is not often used or visible, before treating your full set.
What to Avoid
Extreme heat or enclosed vehicles. Leaving tiles in hot cars, warm attics, or tightly sealed spaces invites warping and finish damage. Not worth the risk.
Long immersions or strong solvents. Do not soak your tiles. Alcohol based sprays, strong chemicals, or abrasive cleaners can strip finishes, blur designs, or mar surfaces.
Pressure and weight. Avoid placing heavy objects on top of stored tiles. Even small compression over time can dent or deform.
Sunlight exposure. UV rays can fade pigments, yellow edges, or dull the crispness of detail. Store sets out of harm’s way.
Potential Consequences of Neglect
Ignoring care might lead to:
- Tarnished color such as fading, yellowing, or uneven discoloration
- Structural changes such as warping, cracked corners, or edges
- Surface loss such as dullness, scratching, loss of gloss, or chipped detailing
- Layer separation in multi layer pieces if adhesives or laminations are exposed to moisture or heat
Such damage does not just affect appearance. It changes the feel, the sound, and the pleasure of every play.
